
Commissioner Cynthia Bridges has been part of the Louisiana Department of Revenue for more than 20 years. Over the years, those in charge recognized her many gifts and moved her through the ranks. Her resume shows that she has held positions in the Field Services and Sales Tax Divisions. She has also been Assistant Director of the Research and Technical Services, Director of the Excise Taxes Division, Deputy Assistant Secretary over the Tax Divisions, and Assistant Secretary over the Compliance Group. Ms. Bridges was serving as Deputy Secretary of the department in June 2000 when Governor Murphy "Mike" Foster appointed her to the position of Secretary. No doubt confident that the Department of Revenue was moving in the right direction, Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco chose to appoint Ms. Bridges to another term as Secretary in January 2004. In January 2008, Governor Bobby Jindal also recognized Secretary Bridges’ strong work ethic and vision for the Department of Revenue and reappointed her as tthe Secretary of Revenue.
In her current position, Ms. Bridges has been responsible for overseeing an annual budget in excess of $70 million and more than 900 employees. Under her direction, the Department of Revenue has made significant advancements and is recognized as a leader in customer service.
